Whether you are eating hot bread with thyme and labneh, eggs, beans and chickpeas, cornflakes, or pancakes, you certainly cannot start your day without eating a nutritious meal of food in the morning, as the breakfast table in every country is filled with a variety of different types of dishes, I was curious to write about it

As half Lebanese and half Iraqi myself, I’ve grown up knowing the Levantine, Lebanese food culture more, thanks to my grandmother’s effect on us

however, Breakfast was not a big part of my daily routine as it is today, I didn’t have time really to eat in the morning, but not until I lived in Jordan and fell in love with everything related to breakfast, the smell of fresh “mannish” in the morning, with the famous Palestinian white cheese, and the true Palestinian olive oil, along with butter, jam, accompanied with taboon bread or Lebanese bread, and tea or coffee, you just can’t help it but eat

the Arabic breakfast meal is very diverse you’ll typically see a variety of small dishes served on a larger tray, it is usually a fairly big spread and a pretty hearty meal, while the family gathers preparing the tables together, accompanied by the exchange of conversations and laughter

but the majority consider lunch to be the biggest meal of the day, breakfast is the second largest, and dinner is typically very small.

The Lebanese breakfast meal or “tarweeqa” consists of beans, rosary, Fattah, fried or boiled eggs, labneh, cheese such as halloumi and kashkaval, in addition to all kinds of manakish, especially cheese, and zaatar manakish, Some of these options include fried falafel patties with tahini

the Lebanese, “taweeqa” occupies a significant part of their lifestyle

The word “Tarweeqa” comes from a well-known expression in Lebanon, “Al-Riwaq”, which means calmness. It is one of the meals that a person can give enough time to prepare and eat.

And if you want to try the Levant breakfast, just look for the traditional restaurants near you on google maps, you will be indulged with a wonderful table that carries various dishes from Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan, placed in several traditional dishes that give the oriental character, with a little background music playing that takes you back to the atmosphere of the past.

Not all Arabic- Eastern countries have the same morning dishes, in Iraq, for example, the majority eat cream and kaymak with honey or “kahi” which is so delish, whereas some actually eat “paja” or kebab and other heavy foods saturated with fat, which I don’t understand why would anyone eat a heavy food early in the morning.

but as People say it started with workers eating this kind of food in the morning because they needed a lot of energy to start their hard work, which later became a mainstream culture in society.

In Morocco they serve Along with mint tea, semolina bread is a staple on the Moroccan breakfast table. Instead of maple syrup, light semolina bread is topped with butter and honey.

The breakfast includes Harsha bread, which is thick rings divided like an English muffin, served with cheese or butter, jam, and honey.

Whereas In Turkey, the breakfast meal is a little bit different, Turkish people love the “simit” in the morning, stuffed with cheese or chocolate, which is considered the first popular meal for all Turks, they eat it as they go to work, as Carts selling simit bread are spread in all neighborhoods and alleys, to the extent that it has become a tourist attraction in the country

Turkish breakfast also includes eggs with sausage, chees, kaymak with honey, sweet and tahini, Burak, and of course, the famous menemen and “coslyma”, also it is customary for Turks to eat lentil soup in the morning with bread and olives.

unlike eastern breakfast which includes many savory dishes, western breakfast usually contains a lot of baked pastries and sweets, depending on the country’s food culture, as each country has its own type of ingredients and preferences in eating breakfast.

also, it considers a great choice for those looking for a fast and simple meal to prepare, from having breakfast for dinner, a sandwich, or English breakfast, many café breakfast meals are also becoming increasingly popular for busy families who don’t have time to cook a full-course meal.

For example, The full English breakfast is a substantial meal consisting of bacon, eggs, British sausage, baked beans, bubble and squeak, fried tomato, fried mushrooms, and black pudding, with fried and toasted bread on the side

in France breakfast is composed of slices of buttered bread and jam spread on it, sometimes croissants or other pastries and cereals. Usually, the drinks are coffee, orange juice, or milk, but Unlike many other countries, breakfast is considered the least important meal of the day. Their important meal is lunch or supper.

whereas in North America, people are more likely to eat cold cereal in the mornings because most people are in rush plus it’s fast to prepare. They also include Butter in Bread, jam, eggs with sausage and bacon, beans, tomatoes, and the all-time favorite French toast, eggs benedict, pancakes, and waffles

breakfast is usually the main meal of the day alongside dinner, At lunchtime, they eat a little something like a sandwich or salad

So if I had to answer what is my favorite type of breakfast? I would probably say Levantine breakfast, and I like to include from time to time Western breakfast also, sometimes I like to start with a little savory food and then end it off with sweet food
